Elections Integrity

Governor DeSantis, Florida's Secretary of State Cord Byrd and the Florida Department of State have made elections integrity a top priority.

We work hard to meet the highest standards for security and integrity, and we've done that in a variety of ways, whether that's through pre- and post-election audits, continual assessment and strengthening of our elections' cybersecurity, and developing partnerships to ensure the integrity of the election.

Florida is a model for successful election administration, and we continue to seek ways to improve our processes.

In 2020, the Department received 262 Elections Fraud Complaint forms and over 75 to law enforcement or prosecuting authorities.

In addition to reviewing formal Elections Fraud Complaint forms, of which the Department received 262 in 2020, the Department also continually receives and reviews complaints and information containing allegations of elections fraud from other sources, including but not limited to emails and telephone calls from the public, Supervisors of Elections, other local and state officials, and law enforcement. If, after a preliminary investigation, there is reason to believe that elections fraud may have occurred, the Department refers the information to the statewide prosecutor, the relevant state attorney, or an appropriate law enforcement agency for further investigation and prosecution.
