How is the Board of Directors appointed?

Directors are appointed and serve for two years. 

They may not serve more than three consecutive terms.

What does the Board do? 

The Board is the chief governing body of the Friends of the State Library & Archives of Florida (FSLAF). 

The Board determines all policies for the operation of FSLAF. Its decisions are binding. 

Other duties include: 

  • Establishes membership dues. 
  • Adopts an annual budget. 
  • Enters into contracts on behalf of the Friends. 
  • Manages the business and property of the Friends. 

Who serves on the Executive Committee? 

The Board elects the Executive committee, which includes the President, Secretary and Treasurer. 

How often does the Board meet? 

The board meets at least four times during a 12-month period, including at least once face-to-face.

Directors can participate in meetings via conference call.
