Learning Centers
Florida’s libraries are the people’s universities. They are powerful learning centers with a wealth of free learning assets including databases, technology tools, business centers, classes, staff instructors and more.
They are trusted, inclusive and welcoming places where people of all ages can get an education.
Libraries provide:
- Learning labs for teens and adults.
- Year-round reading programs that engage readers of all ages and support community literacy.
- Free adult basic education and family literacy services.
- New learning models such as cafes that support Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math (STEAM) for teens and adults.
- Makerspace programs that encourage independent thinking and creativity.
- Gaming activities that teach critical thinking and problem solving skills.
Libraries are building strategic partnerships to form learning networks and are designing spaces around learners’ priorities. They are raising their profiles as vital community educators.
