The Division manages the State Library and Archives, supports public libraries, directs records management services, and is the designated information resource provider for the state of Florida.
The IR hosts a number of peer-reviewed research journals.
To assist editorial staff, FIU Libraries provides consultations, set up and training in publishing through Digital Commons.
Editorial boards can then manage their manuscripts through the platform, from author submission to final publication.

Many of these resources and programs are funded under the provisions of the Library Services and Technology Act from the Institute of Museum and Library Services. Florida's LSTA program is administered by the Department of State's Division of Library and Information Services.
