Summer Reading

Summer Reading 2026

Red, white and blue America250FL logo

Summer Reading Programs at Florida’s libraries play a vital role in helping youth stay engaged, curious and connected to learning all summer long. To support libraries in their planning and implementation, we have developed a suite of optional resources inspired by The Yearling and the tenacious spirit of Floridians who have long shaped life in our state’s scrub and homestead landscapes.

While these materials are designed to support summer programming, The Yearling and its themes of resilience, family and Florida’s natural environment also offer rich opportunities for year‑round programs, displays and community engagement. Libraries may use or adapt these resources in whatever ways best serve their local communities.

In addition, libraries may choose to explore America250FL resources that highlight historic photos, Florida‑focused stories and civic‑literacy connections as our nation approaches its 250th anniversary.

Summer Statistics 2026
