Secretary Detzner Honors Florida Heritage Month Award Winners
Awards ceremony begins tonight at 7pm at FSU’s Turnbull Center in Tallahassee
Tallahassee, Florida –
Secretary of State Ken Detzner will join Governor Rick Scott at the Florida Heritage Month Awards ceremony tonight to honor the 2012 Florida Heritage Month Award winners. The ceremony is part of a month-long celebration from March 15 to April 15, recognizing Floridians who have made contributions to the state in historic preservation, literature, folk heritage, public service, the arts and entertainment.
“Florida has such a wide variety of talents and tonight’s awards ceremony is an opportunity for us to recognize some of those individuals who have impacted our state’s cultural diversity in a significant way,” said Secretary Detzner. “I have so much respect for these Floridians and what they have done to inspire future generations.”
Tonight’s ceremony is being coordinated by the Department of State’s Division of Library and Information Services, Division of Cultural Affairs, and Division of Historical Resources. In addition to the Florida Heritage Awards, Florida residents and visitors can experience a variety of historical sites, cultural activities and literary programs in the state throughout Florida Heritage Month.
