Secretary of State Ken Detzner is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibition of artwork by Florida artist Nestor Martinez. The exhibition is on display in the 22nd Floor Capitol Gallery through May 31, 2014.
“Nestor Martinez is a passionate and talented Florida artist,” said Secretary of State Ken Detzner. “Visitors to the 22nd Floor Capitol Gallery will be amazed by his techniques and use of color in works that range from realistic to surreal.”
Nestor Martinez grew up in Bogotá, Colombia. He began his artistic training in 1966 and has been in the field of fine arts ever since. Martinez graduated as an architect, and throughout his career has worked as a drafter, art illustrator and art director for several well-known advertising agencies. In 2005, Martinez began working full time in the United States when he was hired as a fine arts painter in Tampa, Florida. He joined the Coalition of Hispanic Artists in 2009. His artwork has been on exhibit throughout Florida and nationally. First Lady Ann Scott selected Nestor Martinez as the featured artist for Hispanic Heritage Month in 2013.
