Food Network Award-Winning Chef Justin Timineri spices things up at the Museum of Florida History

Secretary of State Ken Detzner and the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services invite the public to a free culinary demonstration by one of Florida’s top chefs at the Museum of Florida History at noon on July 22. Chef Justin Timineri is the executive chef for the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. In 2006 he won the Food Network Challenge Great American Seafood cook-off in New Orleans where he earned the title of having the country’s best domestic seafood dish.

“We’re excited to team up with the Florida Department of Agriculture to have Chef Justin come to the Museum,” said Secretary Detzner. “Given his accolades, I’m confident his presentation will be both educational and delicious.”

A native Floridian, Timineri is currently the international culinary ambassador representing the State of Florida and the “Fresh From Florida” brand.  His mission is to encourage everyone to rediscover fresh and healthy Florida cuisine.

Chef Justin said, “Florida’s history of sport fishing is an important aspect of being a Floridian. I am excited to give a cooking demonstration that includes a sampling of seafood at the Museum.  The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is committed to culinary education of Florida’s seafood species in both the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean.”

Chef Justin Timineri’s presentation complements the Museum’s temporary exhibit, The Lure of Florida Fishing and includes a cooking demonstration that highlights some of Florida’s most popular fish. After learning how to prepare a “Fresh From Florida recipe,” visitors can sample some of the creation.

The presentation is part of the History at High Noon series, offering mid-day lectures once a month. The program is free and open to the public.
