Primary Election Upcoming on Tuesday August 26

Tallahassee –

Secretary of State Ken Detzner released the following statement prior to the Primary Election on Tuesday, August 26, 2014:

"With the Primary Election on the horizon, I encourage all eligible voters to participate if they have not already voted early or by absentee ballot," said Secretary of State Ken Detzner. "On Election Day, the polls are open from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m. Contact your local Supervisor of Election to find polling places. Supervisors also have precinct and polling place finders on their websites to provide you with the information on where to vote."

Find your Supervisor of Elections contact information and website here.

At the polls, voters will be asked to provide a valid photo ID with signature. The following photo IDs will be accepted:

  • Florida driver’s license
  • Florida identification card issued by the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles
  • United States passport
  • Debit or credit card
  • Military identification
  • Student identification
  • Retirement center identification
  • Neighborhood association identification
  • Public assistance identification

If the photo ID does not contain a signature, voters will be asked to provide another ID that has a signature. If voters do not bring acceptable ID, they may still vote a provisional ballot. A provisional ballot cast by a voter entitled to vote in the precinct where it was cast will count if the signature on the provisional ballot envelope matches the signature on the voter registration application.

All Floridians will be able to view Florida’s election results on the Florida Election Watch website, enight.elections.myflorida.com. Visitors to the site will be able to customize results tracking by contest, county and other categories. Please be aware that while Florida polls close at 7 p.m., Florida has two time zones. Voting will not be completed statewide until 7 p.m. Central/8 p.m. Eastern, at which time, election results will be released.
