Project Integrity Implementation Postponed

The Department of Homeland Security’s SAVE program undergoing a multi-phase redesign

Tallahassee — Secretary of State Ken Detzner sent the attached memo to Supervisors of Elections postponing the implementation of Project Integrity, a proposed process to maintain the integrity of the voter rolls. Excerpts from the memo are included below:

“As  Secretary of State, it is my duty to defend the right to vote in Florida. Last fall the Department of State launched Project Integrity, a series of publicly  noticed workshops around the state to seek your collaboration for the proposed addition of a new process to ensure the integrity and safeguarding of our voter rolls...

In early February, we received notice that the Department of Homeland Security’s SAVE program would be undergoing a multi-phase redesign. On February 23, Phase One was officially launched and included, at a minimum, a revised screen design, new fields and features…

These changes will enhance and improve the credibility and reliability of the potential ineligible matches, but DHS anticipates Phase Two will not be complete until 2015. For these reasons, with your input, I have decided to postpone implementing Project Integrity until the Federal SAVE Program Phase Two is completed.”
