Swing Dancin' in the Street at the Knott House Museum

Tallahassee –

Secretary of State Ken Detzner invites the public to join the Museum of Florida History’s Knott House Museum for Swing Dancin’ in the Street on Saturday, September 27 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A free lesson is offered at 6:30 p.m. Park Avenue will be closed as The Tallahassee Swing Band performs live music.

“This 1940s-style block party is a popular event at the Knott House Museum,” said Secretary of State Ken Detzner. “It’s a great way to enjoy the beautiful fall weather in Tallahassee and listen to swing era favorites performed live.”

For those who prefer to listen, the park across from the Knott House offers areas to set-up chairs and see the band. Guest vocalists lend their voices as The Tallahassee Swing Band performs a range of swing classics. Tours of the historic Knott House Museum are offered during the event. The free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Museums of Florida History, Inc.

About the Knott House Museum

The Knott House Museum is located at 301 East Park Avenue, at the corner of Park Avenue and Calhoun Street, Tallahassee, Florida. The Museum is administered by the Museum of Florida History, a section of the Florida Department of State’s Division of Cultural Affairs. The historic house is open for tours Wednesday through Friday 1:00, 2:00, & 3:00 p.m. and Saturday: 10:00, 11:00 a.m., Noon, 1:00, 2:00, & 3:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public, but there is a small charge for group tours.
