Florida Celebrates National Library Card Sign-Up Month

Secretary Detzner Encourages Residents to Sign Up for Library Cards in September

In celebration of National Library Card Sign-Up Month, Florida Secretary of State Ken Detzner is encouraging Floridians to sign up for a library card and explore the many resources and educational opportunities Florida libraries have to offer to residents. Since 1987, libraries nationwide have celebrated Library Card Sign-Up Month each September.

“Today’s modern libraries offer many services to residents and having a library card is like a passport to our past, present and future,” said Secretary Detzner.  “A library card provides access to an invaluable collection of resources and offers something for everyone – from workforce training to educational materials and important community engagement programs. I encourage all Floridians to support their local libraries and sign up for a library card today!” 

Florida’s 555 public libraries offer many programs and services to their local communities. With a library card, patrons can get Internet access, learn how to write a resume, search for jobs, gain new computer skills, find homework assistance resources, and so much more. Floridians can find their local public library by going to fllibraries.org and searching by city, county or address.
