Secretary Detzner Announces Grand Opening of The Grove Museum on Saturday, March 11

Free admission, community event will feature museum tours, musical performances, yard games, food vendors, and activities

TALLAHASSEE –

Secretary of State Ken Detzner today announced that The Grove Museum in Tallahassee will officially open to the public on Saturday, March 11 during a community Grand Opening event from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

“We are honored and excited to officially open The Grove Museum,” said Secretary Detzner. “I personally invite all Tallahassee residents and visitors to join us for the Grand Opening on Saturday, March 11, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is a free admission and family-friendly event to celebrate our community and shared heritage. Visitors can explore state-of-the art museum exhibits, take tours of the grounds, enjoy musical performances, and participate in fun activities, including a community art project. Don’t forget to bring your picnic blanket and enjoy lunch under the beautiful oaks!”

The Grand Opening of The Grove Museum is an opportunity to explore the c. 1840 Call-Collins House and tour brand new, state-of-the-art museum exhibits that combine the power of technology and narrative to tell the story of The Grove. Visitors will discover nearly 200 years of rich Florida and American history beginning with former territorial Florida Governor Richard Keith Call through the legacy left by former Florida Governor and Mrs. LeRoy Collins.

Activities:

• Enjoy outdoor games and activities, including cornhole and mini golf.
• Participate in a community-wide art project led by artist Lucrezia Bieler.

Admission & Parking:

• Parking and admission are free.
• Free parking is available at the City of Tallahassee Renaissance Center (435 N Macomb St) with a trolley offering transport to The Grove Museum (public entrance located at 902 N Monroe St).

Food & Picnic Information:

• Food from 4 Rivers Smokehouse and Decent Pizza will be available for purchase.
• Bring a blanket to spread for a picnic lunch to get the full experience!
