Florida Department of State and Tallahassee’s Council on Culture and Arts to Highlight the Economic Impact of Arts and Culture

Tallahassee, Fla. –

Secretary of State Ken Detzner announced today that the Florida Department of State’s Division of Cultural Affairs is partnering with Tallahassee’s Council on Culture and Arts (COCA) to present the Arts and Economic Prosperity 5 tour on January 24, 2018 at the Capitol’s 22^nd Floor Gallery. The event will highlight the recent results of Americans for the Arts’ latest study, which illustrates a $4.68 billion statewide economic impact of Florida’s diverse arts and culture industry, and will discuss how to use these results to help create a thriving arts and culture community.

“Americans for the Arts’ latest study, Arts and Economic Prosperity 5, illustrates the enormous impact that arts and culture have on our state’s economy,” said Secretary Detzner. “With 132,366 jobs supported and $492.3 million in local and state government revenue generated, arts and culture help make Florida a great place to live, work and play. We are proud to partner with the Council on Culture and Arts to celebrate and spread the word about the importance of not-for-profit arts and culture.”

The presentation will feature Americans for the Arts’ Vice President of Research and Policy Randy Cohen, who will speak on the national, statewide and regional perspectives of Arts and Economic Prosperity 5. He will also share methods and strategies for organizations to best use the results of the study in their own work and advocacy efforts.

Following the event, Florida Cultural Alliance’s Arts and Culture Day Informational Rally will begin at 11:00 a.m.
