The Museum of Florida History Presents the Special Exhibit Florida Inspired— Landscapes from the Risner Fine Art Collection
Tallahassee –
Scretary of State Laurel M. Lee invites the public to experience the special exhibit Florida Inspired—Landscapes from the Risner Fine Art Collection on display from November 23, 2019 through August 2, 2020 at the Museum of Florida History. This is the premiere exhibit of the Risner Fine Art Collection and features 126 Florida landscape paintings by 98 different artists.
“These works of art capture Florida’s vibrant natural beauty in a variety of styles and interpretations,” said Secretary Lee. “Mr. Risner’s gift is a great and lasting resource and inspiration for future Floridians.”
Drifting Across the Glades by Henry Von Genk III
Since 2017, Florida resident and art collector Ron Risner has donated more than 160 paintings to the Museum of Florida History and the people of the State of Florida. The Florida Inspired exhibit will be the public’s first introduction to this collection. The works span over a century and illustrate Florida’s varied terrain, including springs, rivers, caves, wetlands, and forests, covering the entire state from the Panhandle to the Keys, Pensacola to Miami, and the Everglades to North Florida farmland.
Visitors are encouraged to explore hands-on portions of the exhibit with a walk-in photo opportunity that allows participants to become part of a Florida landscape painting, or by piecing together a large wooden puzzle with moveable parts that includes scenes from various landscapes.
For information about educational activities and special programming offered during the exhibit, visit the Museum’s website, Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram pages or call 850.245.6400.
