Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee Recognizes Ms. Amanda Murphy of New Port Richey Main Street

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –

Today, Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee recognizes Ms. Amanda Murphy, Vice President and Organization Committee Chair of New Port Richey Main Street for her continuous service and dedication to her local Main Street program.

“I would like to sincerely thank Ms. Murphy for her hard work and commitment to both New Port Richey Main Street and this year’s Preservation on Main Street Conference,” said Secretary Lee. “Main Street organizations require devoted individuals in order to be effective and efficient in their goal of community preservation and revitalization, with a desire to support their community as a whole. Ms. Murphy exemplifies these traits and her leadership skills have provided the perfect setting for our upcoming conference.”

Ms. Murphy has served on the New Port Richey Main Street board of directors for the past two years and has been fundamental in implementing various events, administrative functions, and building partnerships with community members and organizations. Ms. Murphy has a strong commitment to public service and philanthropy. She previously served as the State Representative for District 36, West Pasco County, Florida from 2013 to 2016, and has served on a variety of non-profit organizations in the greater Tampa Bay area.

In her two years of service to New Port Richey Main Street, Ms. Murphy has been a crucial partner in the development and execution of the 2021 Preservation on Main Street Conference, presented by Florida Main Street and the Florida Trust for Historic Preservation. Serving as the Conference Committee Chair, she has coordinated local logistics, organized volunteers, and secured venues, lodging, food service, tour guides and local sponsorships for the duration of the four-day conference. In addition, she will co-present an educational session on Florida’s legislative process on Thursday, July 22.

New Port Richey Main Street was designated as a Florida Main Street community in 1990. Over the past 31 years, New Port Richey Main Street has reported approximately $61,004,032 in public and private reinvestment, welcomed 168 net new businesses and 542 net new full-time and part-time jobs within the district. Additionally, the organization has reported more than 61,427 volunteer hours.
