Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee and Florida Supervisors of Elections Join NASS in #TrustedInfo2022 Voter Education Effort
Tallahassee, FL –
Florida Secretary of State, and the Florida Supervisors of Elections (FSE) in advance of the 2022 midterm elections, join the National Association of Secretaries of State (NASS) in the #TrustedInfo2022 education effort to encourage citizens to look to their state and local election officials as the trusted sources of election information.
“The spread of misinformation and disinformation to influence voters and interfere with elections is a key concern,” said Secretary of State Laurel M. Lee. “We are grateful to be partnering with NASS and the Florida Supervisors of Elections for the #TrustedInfo2022 campaign to ensure that voters in Florida know that we are THE trusted sources for elections information.”
“The biggest threat to our democracy is election misinformation, disinformation, and malinformation that undermines voter confidence in the integrity of our elections,” states Wesley Wilcox, Marion County Supervisor of Elections and Florida Supervisors of Elections President. “Florida voters can be confident that our elections are accurate and conducted with the highest levels of integrity and transparency in our nation. We are committed to ensuring voters have access to accurate election information during the 2022 election cycle and beyond.”
Voter education and awareness is critical to combatting misinformation and disinformation. The nation's Chief Election Officials, along with local election officials are continuously working to inform Americans about the elections process, including voter registration, state election laws, polling place locations, post-election processes and much more. Many election officials will use the #TrustedInfo2022 hashtag to flag official election information on social media and other sites.
The Florida Department of State, Division of Elections and local Supervisor of Elections have valuable information, resources and accessible tools available for those interested in learning more about elections. Voters with questions or who see incorrect election information, are encouraged to contact the Florida Department of State here: https://dos.myflorida.com/contact-us/, or their local Supervisor of Elections here: https://dos.elections.myflorida.com/supervisors/.
Florida voters can become more involved in the elections process by becoming election workers. Interested voters are encouraged to contact their local Supervisor of Elections to learn more.
