TALLAHASSEE, FLA. –

Secretary of State Cord Byrd announces the 10-year celebration of the Florida Historic Golf Trail and welcomes its newest partner course, Brentwood Golf Course in Jacksonville, Duval County, Florida.

“Florida is known around the world for the quality of its many golf courses. The Department encourages all resident and visiting golfers to explore Florida’s Historic Golf Trail courses and ‘Come Play on History.’” said Secretary of State Cord Byrd. “We’re excited to welcome Brentwood Golf Course onto the Florida Historic Golf Trail and to share more of their history and their work in the community.”

Brentwood Golf Course joins 50 existing partner courses on the Florida Historic Golf Trail. Opened in 1923, Brentwood hosted prestigious professional tournaments in its early years, including the United States National Public Links and the Jacksonville Open. Today, Brentwood is home to the First Tee of North Florida, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving children’s life skills through golf. Visit FloridaHistoricGolfTrail.com/Brentwood to learn more about the course’s history.

All historic courses listed on the Florida Historic Golf Trail were built before 1950 (or listed in the National Register Historic Places) and are publicly accessible.
