Secretary Byrd Invites the Public to Visit Museums During March of Museums
Department of State and Museums Partner to Promote Florida’s Unique Museums
TALLAHASSEE, FLA. –
Secretary of State Cord Byrd invites the public to visit museums in Florida during the ninth annual March of Museums. March of Museums is a statewide initiative led by the Florida Department of State throughout the month of March celebrating Florida’s many high-quality museums.
“I’m proud to highlight the variety of museums the state has to offer. Museums encourage tourism, promote historic preservation, and offer entertainment and education to Florida families and visitors,” said Florida Secretary of State Cord Byrd. “This month, I encourage all Floridians to explore a museum or historical site and experience Florida’s unique cultural landscape.”
MarchofMuseums.com offers a listing and map of museums by region, highlights the mission or collections of each institution, and offers a calendar of events taking place during the month of March.
An important goal of March of Museums is to foster communication and sharing between museums and other historical organizations—throughout the state and beyond. Since the Department of State is the lead agency spearheading Florida’s participation in America’s Semiquincentennial (250) celebration, our Museum of Florida History recently facilitated the loan of a 6.5-foot bronze statue of George Washington. The statue is on loan to the State of Florida by the Mount Vernon Ladies Association and will be on display in the rotunda of the Florida Capitol until February 2026.
