MEDIA ADVISORY: Division of Historical Resources Announces Public Meeting on National Statuary Hall Replacement
Tallahassee –
The Division of Historical Resources announces a meeting of the ad hoc Committee of the Great Floridians Program on Wednesday, June 22, beginning at 9 a.m. at the R.A. Gray Building in Tallahassee.
Pursuant to Ch. 2016-41 Laws of Florida, the ad hoc Committee of the Great Floridians Program, at its first meeting of the year, must select three prominent Florida citizens to recommend to the Legislature regarding the replacement of Florida’s General Edmund Kirby Smith statue in National Statuary Hall. At the meeting, members of the public will be provided an opportunity to submit recommendations and provide comment before the ad hoc Committee. Due to time restrictions, public comment will be limited to three minutes per individual. At the meeting, the ad hoc Committee will also consider the results of public recommendations submitted in writing and through an online survey from May 18-June 10, 2016.
