Council on Culture and Arts

Leon County

The Council on Culture & Arts (COCA) is the officially designated local arts agency for Tallahassee and Leon County. With over 30 years of service to the community, we have developed excellent working relationships with the city and county governments, as well the local arts and business communities. COCA is the agency charged with taking the lead in implementing the Capital Area Cultural Plan. Our constituency includes over 300 cultural organizations and businesses, more than 3,500 individual practicing artists, a growing community of nearly 284,000 Leon County residents and an additional 517,000 residents of surrounding counties within a 100-mile radius.

Because of DCA...

we can provide high quality services to the general public, arts and cultural organizations, individual artists, students, educators and tourists in our region.

COCA has enjoyed a long and fruitful partnership with the Division of Cultural Affairs. Since our founding, over 20 DCA General Program Support grants have enabled us to sustain our programming and invent new and creative ways to serve our community. We have also benefited from a DCA Culture Builds Florida grant and numerous other DCA grants. In recent years, COCA has collaborated with DCA on the annual Chalk Walk and Arts Day celebration in Tallahassee. COCA staff members have been participants in countless DCA professional development workshops and conferences, and division staff have similarly partnered with COCA’s own professional development initiatives to bring their expertise to our constituents.
