Protocol is the set of rules that describe how activities should be performed. Regarding international affairs, protocol includes well-established and time-honored rules of courtesy that enable international representatives to build trust and to acknowledge authority and precedence, fostering successful relationships and discourse among people from widely ranging cultures.
