Ms. Frances Fisher

Frances Fisher has dedicated over 30 years to civic leadership, both locally and nationally, including advocacy for the arts, education, healthcare and the environment. She currently serves as Chairman of Ann Norton Sculpture Gardens; Co-Chair of the Advisory Board of the LeMieux Center for Public Policy, Chairman of the Women of Distinction Awards Luncheon and Member of the God-sized Dreams Campaign at Palm Beach Atlantic University; trustee and Centennial Chair of the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy; Vice President of the Board of Directors of H.O.W. (Hearing the Ovarian Cancer Whisper); trustee and Chairman of Philanthropy for Palm Health Foundation; member of the Board of Directors of the Palm Beach Civic Association; trustee of Mind, Music, and Movement Foundation; National Council Member of the National Trust for Historic Preservation; and officer of The Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St. John of Jerusalem. She also serves as an investor and mentor to students as CHANGEmakers for Palm Beach County through Philanthropy Tank. Previous board service includes Norton Museum of Art; Cox Science Center and Aquarium; Cultural Council for Palm Beach County; Palm Beach Day Academy; and the Episcopal Church of Bethesda-by-the-Sea.

Frances has been recognized as a recipient of the Cultural Council for Palm Beach County Thalia Muse Award for Lifetime Achievement; Palm Beach Modern + Contemporary Lifetime Achievement Award; Palm Beach Fellowship of Christians & Jews John C. Randolph Award; Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Women of Distinction Award; the Ryan Licht Sang Bipolar Foundation Shining Star Award and Lifetime Trustee Award; the Executive Women of the Palm Beaches Foundation Award; the Center for Family Services’ Humanitarian Heart Award; and the Junior League Woman Volunteer of the Year Award on behalf of her service to the Historical Society of Palm Beach County. In honor of Frances’s advocacy for women in leadership and dedication to educational advancement for female students, Palm Beach Atlantic University established the Frances Fisher Scholars of Public Policy Program in 2014. In 2020, Frances was the first to establish a mental and behavioral health scholarship program through Palm Health Foundation. As a passionate preservationist, the Fishers’ landmarked home was awarded the American Institute of Architects Florida Merit Award for Excellence in Restoration. Their garden has been recognized with the Lesly S. Smith Landscape Award by the Preservation Foundation of Palm Beach and is included in the Smithsonian Institution’s Archive of Outstanding American Gardens.

Prior to joining the Palm Beach community, Frances worked at the national level in both the public and nonprofit sectors in Washington, D.C. She served in the West Wing of the White House as Special Assistant to the Counsel for President George H.W. Bush and member of the Advance Team for First Lady Barbara Bush. Following public service, Frances co-founded the National Environmental Policy Institute where she served nine years as Executive Director.

Frances is a native of Tuscaloosa, Alabama and a graduate of the University of Alabama where she currently serves on the President’s Cabinet for The Rising Tide Campaign. She also received her accreditation in Education for Ministry from The School of Theology at Sewanee University.
