Daryl Howard

U.S Army 1978 – 1991

Daryl Howard is a U.S. Army veteran whose career reflects a lifelong commitment to service, leadership, and faith. Raised in Chattahoochee, Florida, Howard developed a strong work ethic early in life, helping his family on tobacco farms and taking on local jobs to support household expenses. He enlisted in the U.S. Army after graduating high school in 1978, serving as a 16R Vulcan Crewmember, a Chaplain's Assistant, and a Legal Clerk in South Korea, and Stateside at Ft Campbell and Ft Hood. His sense of justice and integrity—demonstrated when he defended a fellow soldier facing harassment—earned him recognition and led to his reassignment to the headquarters company at Fort Hood. After his active duty service, Howard continued in the U.S. Army Reserve for thirteen years with the 400th Military Police Company in Tallahassee. He balanced his military responsibilities with civilian roles in public safety and law enforcement, including service as a corrections officer, police communications officer, and public safety officer. For the past several years, he has worked with the Florida Division of Elections, where he applies the same discipline, fairness, and commitment to public service that defined his military career. Howard credits the Army with shaping his character, teaching him teamwork, humility, and perseverance. His experiences have also guided his advice to younger generations: to make deliberate, informed choices, respect family guidance, and prepare early for the future. Whether in uniform or as a civilian public servant, Daryl Howard embodies the values of honor, accountability, and service that he believes represent the best of American citizenship.
