Museum of the History of Communism Survey
Public Survey
On October 21, Secretary of State Cord Byrd announced the release of a public survey to gather input on the creation of a museum of the history of communism. The survey will remain open until November 1, 2024.
“Input from Floridians is needed to develop recommendations on the creation of a museum of the history of Communism,” said Secretary of State Cord Byrd. “I encourage all interested parties to take the time to complete and share the short online survey.”
Background
On April 17, 2024, Governor Ron DeSantis signed into law CS/CS/SB 1264 (Chapter 2024-102, Laws of Florida) relating to the History of Communism. The bill requires the Department of State, in collaboration with the Department of Education, to consult with state and national stakeholders to provide a recommendation to the Legislature, no later than December 1, 2024, on the creation of a museum of the history of Communism.
