Biography
Singer-songwriter, actor, and comedian Jim Stafford was born in Eloise, Florida. He grew up in a musical family and learned to play several instruments including the guitar, fiddle, banjo, piano, and harmonica. At age 18 Mr. Stafford played guitar on the nationally televised Ted Mack Amateur Hour. "Swamp Witch" became Mr. Stafford's first top forty hit. He followed with his biggest hit, "Spiders & Snakes" which spent 26 weeks on the Billboard charts and sold more than 2 million copies. More hits followed including “My Girl Bill”, “Wildwood Weed”, and “Cow Patti” which Mr. Stafford wrote and sang in the Clint Eastwood movie “Any Which Way You Can.”
